friday flick fix: sixteen candles

Sixteen Candles (1984) is one of my favorite '80s movies.  It's a funny and relatable look into high school infatuation, directed by John Hughes. Starring the former teen queen herself, Molly Ringwald.

back when batman wasn't so badass

As a child, the Batman I was first acquainted with was the blue-and-gray Caped Crusader with the bright yellow utility belt.  He had a batarang and a mask that made him look more like a pig than a bat, and he wore his underwear over his tights.  

back when billie piper was a teen dance popstar

People like myself who have a geek streak for science-fantasy programs would likely recognize Billie Piper as Rose Tyler, a.k.a., The Doctor's companion for seasons 1 through 4 of Doctor Who 2005.
